  A Chocolate Treat for KS3 & KS4 Teachers Monday 4th March 2013, 9:30am - 2:15pm. York Cocoa House, Blake Street, York, YO1 8QJ Looking for interesting ways to teach Food Technology and/or develop cross curricular links? This hands on opportunity will provide teachers with the knowledge and skills to teach aspects of the curriculum in an engaging and exciting way using chocolate. York Cocoa House is an unique business that offers ‘all things chocolatey’ including a café, workshops, demonstrations and a shop. They have a wealth of resources available for schools to cover a variety of curriculum areas, allowing you to explore the journey from bean to bar at a level suitable for your students. During the workshop, participants will learn a number of chocolate-making techniques to successfully work with chocolate back in school, promoting team work, planning, thinking skills, decision making and creativity. Although the workshop is aimed at teachers of Food Technology, teachers from all disciplines are welcome. Chocolate can be used to explore a variety of subjects and themes within the curriculum including fair trade, sustainability, science and local community/history. 9:30am                       Arrive.
